about

While continuing with their pioneering trans-continental recording techniques, the first concept album also marks a period of transition in recording technology for Lüt.

Many of the tracks were started on the Tascam 424 and Yamaha MT100, but, as was the trend in Post-Y2K America, a new and more exciting piece of gear would come along that does exactly the same thing, rendering archaic technologies useless.

By the time studio work was completed in the Summer of 2003, the band had not only become gear nerds, but also had re-become alcoholics, due to the dizzying panoply of recording machines and audio formats.

Love Songs serves as a catharsis for the trio, something that can be seen and heard in the new forthright compositions. Lars returns fully to the fold & Chas retires from the “college bar scene.” In addition to his usual band chores, Neil—using his brass alto saxophone—blows alongside local trumpet legend, Easy Slipper, on one track. Also making a guest appearance on the album is Basil Rice, viola.

about

Lüt Albany, New York

Lüt is an american alternative rock group formed in a San Francisco flophouse-basement in 1996. The trio of Lars Bumgratenschlef, Neilz Eifitz, and Chas Hollywood met in an upstate NY high school in 1988. Out of necessity, they continue to record and comment musically on such topics as tire-fires, broads, demons, jackasses, woman drivers, commercially available crap-rock, and chimney fires. ... more
